Rubrics

I think one of the biggest obstacles for using writing in math is grading the writing. Please post rubrics you have used for writing with a brief description of how they were used. These rubrics can be general or go with specific writing prompts. They can always be tweaked to use with other assignments!

- This is a writing rubric I use during my quadratic functions unit. I either have students compare and contrast linear and quadratic functions or they can choose to describe the information that can be gathered from a quadratic function in standard form. This rubric could easily be tweaked to fit any assignment in which you would like for students to describe a mathematical concept.

- This is a creative writing assignment in which I have students write a poem or song to help them remember the divisibility rules. This can be modified to fit other rules as well.
